Colleen Allen has been involved in various forms of fitness for over 30 years. A certified personal trainer with ACE (American Council on Exercise) and youth soccer/coach, Colleen has run three marathons, participated in several triathlons and half marathons and played both soccer and ice hockey through college.
With 3 children, a love of exercise, stiff muscles and a lack of flexibility, Colleen found her yoga mat in 2001. Initially, practicing yoga was purely for strength and flexibility. As Colleen continued to step onto her yoga mat, she realized how beneficial yoga was in her everyday life.

Her passion for fitness and experience leading and guiding athletes, made the transition to encouraging others to seek the whole body benefits of yoga completely natural for her. For eight years Lani watched her weight increase with each passing year. In the summer of 2010 she found her weight gain keeping her isolated, trapped and powerless inside herself. She became determined to reclaim her life to become healthy, happy to lose the weight so she joined a local gym. With some progress after several months of treadmills and weight lifting she found her first “gym” power yoga class. Lani first introduced yoga into her life to give her some variation in her exercise routine in hopes of finding some peace and relief from everyday life.
Lani’s yoga experience first began on her mat in the way of a physical connection; but she was soon faced with herself in a raw and vulnerable nature. She slowly became open and willing to face her true self. In doing so she found herself surrendering to many attachments in her life. Stepping out of comfort zones, she suddenly lost 40 pounds with such ease that had never been present before in her life. She began to become more present which allowed her to create space in her life, accepting what is, letting go of past resistance. Lani found herself much happier and loving herself more. As she continued to grow in her practice she began to fully understand yoga in the full sense of the word, Union.
Lani started to be drawn to everything to do with yoga; she wanted and needed to learn more, to grow in her understanding, to continue her awakening. She wanted to sink her teeth into it all; she began taking every workshop offered at bCalm (Baron Baptiste 40 Day Personal Revolution with Lesley Reilly, Arm Balance Workshop with Brian Lam, Empowering the Teacher within with Lesley Reilly and Jane Cargill). Lani recently completed bCalm’s 200 Hour, Yoga Alliance Teaching Training Program with Lesley Reilly and Jane Cargill; rooted in the Baptiste Methodology.
Through this journey Lani has uncovered the depths of her being. Spending time on her mat and in various workshops has penetrated a transformation that will continue to grow. She has learned and developed through all of these stages of self study and is eager to share her personal growth with others. Thru this process, she has learned, transformation is always available as long as she is open and willing to grow. Lani is eager to share her love of yoga and the freedom Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga has uncovered in her with everyone I know.
From the very first day Joe walked onto a yoga mat back in 1995, his life was forever changed. His body and mind, worn down by a lifetime of stress from competitive sports and weight training, was instantly relieved of aches & pains, which he had long taken for granted. The magic of yoga reveled itself immediately.
In 2001, after exploring many styles of yoga at various health clubs & studios, Joe walked into Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga studio in Cambridge. This style resonated with Joe immediately, who quickly realized yoga was a blessing, and power yoga was a dream come true. The intensity of the practice coupled with the instant gratification provided by the experience was exactly what the doctor ordered.
Having played football through college and coached for ten years, Joe was intrigued after learning, Baron Baptiste had worked with NFL football players. Joe decided he would also like to work with athletes of all ages by teaching yoga to help them attain peak performance potential.
From many years of practice which lead to a consistent flow of personal transformation and evolution, it became clear to Joe that it is now his obligation to share the magic of the Baptiste methodology with everyone who wishes to benefit from its positive mental, physical, and spiritual effects.
"When I began practicing yoga, my practice was all about me. As my practice has evolved, I have come to realize that my practice is now about others."
In 2011, Joe completed level 1, 2, & 3 teacher training with the Baptiste Power Yoga Institute and The Art of assisting in 2012. Joe is currently enrolled in ongoing mentorship programs, and is looking forward to traveling with the programs team to assist Baptiste workshops.
Like so many others, Krista made her way to a yoga mat in order to heal and prevent injuries from other forms of exercise. With knees that definitely were not born to run but a stubbornness that eventually insisted on finishing a marathon, Krista dabbled in several forms of yoga before discovering and truly connecting with power vinyasa yoga in 2006. The practice that began as just another workout has become one of the great passions of her life, as she continues to reap physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits from her dedication to power yoga.
The physical benefits of practice have been perhaps expected but nonetheless impressive: Krista avoided what seemed like an inevitable knee surgery and no longer dreads walking down stairs. Less expected has been the impact on the non-physical aspects of her life. Yoga provides a calm center where Krista connects with herself, in turn making her a better wife, mother, friend and, yes, even a better lawyer when she’s off her mat.
Krista connected more deeply with her yoga practice when she practiced through her pregnancy with her son, Josh. She attended class days before his birth and was back a month after. It was through this experience that Krista truly came to appreciate breath and meditative practice. She also became really good at waddling into class and sitting on a block. bCalm opened just as Krista was recommitting to her practice and reclaiming her body strength, and within a year she was immersed in the bCalm community, making friends, deepening her practice, and relishing her time with herself on her mat.
Krista has participated in numerous bCalm workshops (including the Baron Baptiste 40 Day Personal Revolution with Lesley Reilly, Arm Balance Workshop with Brian Lam, and Empowering the Teacher within with Lesley Reilly and Jane Cargill) and workshops at Prana Power Yoga. Krista recently completed bCalm’s 200 Hour, Yoga Alliance Teaching Training Program with Lesley Reilly and Jane Cargill, rooted in the Baptiste Methodology.
Krista lives in Southborough with her husband, son and dog. She also in an attorney who practices commercial litigation when she’s not practicing yoga.
500-hour Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga Teacher
Yoga Alliance RYT-500/E-RYT-500
For over 10 years I have been practicing and teaching Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga. Since then I have come to know the many benefits that are inherent to yoga practice; connection to breath, clearing of mind, and embodying of spirit. Through these connections I have gotten to know my true self and have been able to awaken in my relationship with myself and everyone else in my life. During these 10 years I have learned to accept myself, accept others, listen to my heart’s messages, and live in line with the yamas and niyamas. Living by these ancient teachings along with the 12 Laws of Transformation (from Baron’s
40 Days to Personal Revolution program) I experience spiritual growth and alignment to my true north.
I left a demanding corporate position in 2003 to re-create my life in order to add in more yoga.
Currently, I work full time as a Health & Safety Specialist in the field of Construction. I love what I do!
I am an OSHA Outreach Trainer, Occupational Hearing Conservationist, and American Heart BLS Certified CPR Instructor.
When I am not at my full time job, I am teaching Baptiste Yoga classes and/or programs.
I have led several thousand Journey into Power yoga classes in RI and I have guided several
40 Days to Personal Revolution programs (one of them being the first ever Digital 40 Days offered by the Baptiste Community).
Creating space and building community is what I am up to in a very big way. When I am not at my full time job or teaching/practicing yoga I am with my very supportive and wonderful husband Larry and our yellow lab Zoe.
I am honored to be an ambassador for lululemon Athletica, Yoga Aid, and HitPlayYoga. I strongly support my dear friend and Baptiste Senior Teacher, Paige Elenson, the founder of the Africa Yoga Project as well as Sarah Gardner, founder of Yoga Reaches Out.
Two reasons brought Karen to her first yoga class in September of 2005.
First, she was looking to make touching my toes a little bit easier. As a lifelong reader most of her exercise at that time came from sticking my nose in a book and turning pages. Although not yet 40, the sedentary lifestyle was starting to catch up with her.
Second, in her personal life she felt stuck in a moment she couldn’t get out of that was taking its toll on her. Karen found as she regularly practiced yoga, she noticed that as her body became more open and flexible, so did her mind and heart. The moment that had kept her stuck in the same downward spiral began to loosen its grip. Additionally, breath by breath, pose by pose she began to cultivate deeper body awareness awakening muscles she never knew she had! Karen came to realize that the beauty of the practice is that is it just that-a practice. Time on her mat is time to breathe, notice, explore, play, fly and fall and over time those qualities began to follow off her mat.
Yoga quickly took root in Karen’s life, and like reading, it became something she couldn’t live without. After practicing consistently for 5 years, and at the encouragement of some of my teachers, she decided to become a teacher to share her love of yoga, which has brought so many positive changes to her own life in many ways- physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
Karen completed my 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training with Rolf Gates in June of 2011, and a second 200-Hour Teacher Training with Baptiste Power Yoga in June of 2012. She also completed Assistant Training led by Prana Power Yoga in September of 2011.
Esther Hogan has been involved in the practice of yoga for over 15 years. Her practice evolved into a way of life after discovering
Baptiste yoga in 2007. The emotional, spiritual and physical transformation that followed left her feeling awake and alive for the
first time in her life. Yoga became an outlet in which to reduce stress and find balance; to express movement, connect and become
stronger. Yoga became a way to search for and find deeper spiritual meaning. Seeking to share her love of the practice, Esther
trained with Baron Baptiste in 2011 and began teaching classes at home. She is currently working towards her 200hr yoga certification
at BCalm Power Yoga. Esther understands that yoga is a life long "practice", and will always seek to learn more and to expand her skills.
Aside from her passion for yoga, Esther is the co-founder of Goddess Getaway, a business which caters to weekend getaways for women.
She is an avid baker who enjoys sharing her creations with friends and family. Esther keeps an active lifestyle and thoroughly
enjoys hiking, dancing and long-distance running. She currently lives in Franklin, MA with her three young children.
Courtney's journey began at an early age as a competitive gymnast. Her passion for the balance beam, the Parallel Bars and Floor fueled her love of the sport and desire to compete. The unrelenting pressures of having to lose weight however, coupled with the emotional strain of those demands, created a poor body image and low self-esteem.
At 16, during her sophomore year of high school, Courtney made the both difficult and brave decision to walk away from the sport she loved. Eight years later she set foot in her first Baron Baptiste Yoga class, she felt at home within herself and sensed an immediate shift in her body image. The experience reignited a passion she once only knew through gymnastics, she realized that yoga provided monumental and life-changing results both spiritually and physically enhancing. Driven by a burning desire to share her practice with others, in 2003 Courtney enrolled in her first teacher training at The Hard & The Soft Yoga Institute with Beryl Bender Birch. Continuing her studies she completed Baptiste's Journey Into Power: Level 1 Teacher Training, and teaches a vinyasa flow class based on the Baptiste style. In 2005 she graduated from the Bancroft School of Massage Therapy as a licensed massage therapist, and now incorporates her love of anatomy into her class. She also completed seminars with the Neurosomatic Educators, including Post urology 101, Pain Mechanisms of the Low Back, and Integrative Approaches to Cervical Pain. Since becoming a Reiki healer, she shares the awareness of energy movements in the human body and its physiological effects in her classes. Courtney considers it an utmost honor to share her practice with the students at bCalm and is forever thankful for the wisdom and love received from all of her teachers.
Jeff was exposed to yoga at a young age but didn't discover its true meaning until he started practicing four years ago amid a daily chaos of work and family life. Initially, a purely physical experience, yoga was as a place where he could challenge himself to experience heightened sensation through a great workout, and share in community. From the benefits of surrendering to this intense physical practice, Jeff also found himself surrendering to various life experiences that were outside of his control. He says, “I found that yoga gave me awareness, strength and gracefulness in my daily life and everything else was simply left open for interpretation in one of a million ways.”
This awareness provided a new sense of inner peace for Jeff and his practice deepened in a very profound way. He realized he could recreate himself, and like his yoga practice, begin again, and again. This led Jeff to his first teacher training where he could develop his skills to share, empower and transform others through his love of yoga. Jeff is a Yoga Alliance, 200hr certified yoga teacher and has studied under several local instructors.
Jeff classes are energetic and light, and will challenge you to your edge. He will encourage you to expand and float to places you never knew existed when you attach your breath to movement. Jeff believes breath is the key to developing your physical practice into something more.
Kimberly is a Yoga Alliance 200 hour certified instructor. Kimberly’s yoga journey started fifteen years ago when her competition cheerleading team used yoga as one of their exercise techniques. Once she felt the benefits in her body, she knew yoga was going to play an integral role in her life. She continued to practice yoga, meditation, and pranyama realizing how beneficial and healing it was, and she knew she had to share this knowledge with friends and family. Through her five-year career in early childhood education, yoga kept calling to her to share her passion. Kimberly started teaching yoga to children in an after school program and loved it, she realized she had to pursue her passion, and continue her education in the field of yoga. Her emphasis is focused on power vinyasa with added attention to the core, and is eager to share the amazing benefits with you. Kimberly is CPR and First Aid certified, and brings her youthful energy to each class.
